Cameron Powell Specialism Concept Art - Week 1

Image
These first two concepts were conceived before I changed my Specialism plans. This is a sketch I have done of Selena in an art style inspired by Bryan Lee O'Malley, particularly his character designs for the Scott Pilgrim Vs The World series of graphic novels. This was conceived before I changed my specialism plans, where I wanted to draw Selena in a simplistic art style to make drawing her sprites easier.  Another sketch I did was an up-close split portrait of Axel and Ash facing against each other.

Cameron Powell Updated Specialism Proposal

Overview: What I will be doing For my Specialism Project, I will be developing some concept images of characters in a superhero world. My work will have an art style inspired by Japanese Animation, so I will be taking inspiration from some of the most popular examples of anime, as well as comic book superheroes from the likes of DC and Marvel. I will be sketching all my ideas on paper and document them on my blog, explaining what they are and what inspired me to make them.  Afterwards, I will redraw my concepts on Adobe Photoshop to make some improvements with my designs. In addition, I will try my hand at experimenting with different art styles, looking at other artists and their drawing methods.  In the end, I will evaluate my experience throughout the project. Methodology: How I will do this For Starters, I will develop a mind map on what I will deliver for my project.  Then, I will document my work called Blogger. Every week, I will make a new post on the progr...

Cameron Powell Specialism 2D Beat 'Em Up Game Canned

Why I decided to drop the 2D Beat 'Em Up game idea On January 11th 2024, I decided to drop plans to make a 2D Beat 'Em Up test level for my Specialism Project. As a result, I decided to remake my proposal, removing mentions of me developing an Unreal Engine game, as well as a new GANTT chart  and mind map.  There are a few reasons why I came to this conclusion. For starters, I felt that making a level on Unreal Engine was too ambitious for my project and it would have taken up a large amount of time to work on, particularly the programming. If I wanted to express my creativity and interest in superheroes, it would have been beneficial if I stuck to Concept Art.  There's also the fact I am unexperienced with making levels on Unreal Engine, especially ones that utilise 2D sprites. While working on it could have helped developed my skills, making a 2D beat 'em up level had very little to do with the premise of the Specialism project, to express my creative skills and in...
